The UGR and CEIMAR organize a summer school on hydrodynamics, morphodynamics and ecology of coastal systems

The school has had the participation of 22 masters students, doctoral and postdoctoral specialized in civil engineering, ecology, oceanography and coastal morphodynamic coastal physics, originating from many different institutions in Asia, America and Europe

The Interuniversity Institute Earth System in Andalusia (Iist) hosted the «III CEIMAR International Summer School Estuarine and Nearshore Systems: From Fundamentals to Cutting-Edge Knowledge», a scientific event organized by the University of Granada and the Aula del Mar (CEIMAR ) with the collaboration of the University of Utrecht.

The school has had the participation of 22 masters students, doctoral and postdoctoral specialized in civil engineering, ecology, oceanography and coastal morphodynamic coastal physics, originating from many different institutions in Asia, America and Europe.

During the two weeks of school, students have received specialized in hydrodynamics, morphodynamics and ecology (mainly estuaries, continental shelves and sandy beaches and gravel) through thematic seminars, tutored practice, experiments in laboratories IISTA coastal systems training and a practice field on board the ship SAR Mastelero in the Granada coast.

These activities have been directed by professors Andrea D «Alpaos (U. Padova), Huib E. de Swart (Utrecht U.), Javier Ruiz (Institute of Marine Sciences of Andalusia), Gerd Masselink (U. Plymouth), Sandro Longo (U. Parma), Henk Schuttelaars (U. Delft) and Miguel Ortega-Sanchez and Manuel Díez-Minguito (U. Granada), internationally renowned experts in their respective fields of research.
