EIDEMAR Doctoral School

The EIDEMAR International Doctoral School in Marine Studies constitutes the most important strategic action carried out by the Campus of International Excellence of the Sea. On December 12, 2012, the Framework Agreement on the creation of the International School was signed by the Universities of Cadiz, Huelva, Almeria and the Algarve and by the Spanish Institute of Oceanography and the Institute for Research and Training in Agriculture and Fisheries of the Andalusian Regional Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Environment. On June 24, 2013, EIDEMAR was approved by the Andalusian Council of Universities.

The primary objective of this School is to organise the doctoral programmes associated with CEIMAR and to offer any activity that complements the education of its doctoral students.

EIDEMAR was launched with four highly specialised doctoral programmes in the field of marine studies:

Marine Sciences and Technology

Marine Resources

Marine Management and Conservation

Maritime History and Archaeology

These programmes encompass a wide range of educational activities, including highly specialised doctoral courses, lectures of excellence, student mobility programmes, research seminars and congresses for young researchers, etc.

The programmes are supported by 225 researchers working at 21 institutions in 13 countries and participating in 75 competitive research projects, in addition to having a high volume of quality scientific production with more than 2,100 scientific publications and over 200 doctoral theses approved in the last five years.
